Did you know what means of The Wonder of The Worlds?

Its refer the seven structures considered by ancient and medieval scholars to be the most wonderous of the ancient world.The number seven was chosen because the Greeks believed it to be the representation of perfection and plenty and also because it was the number of the five planets known anciently plus the sun and moon.

The Seven Wonder of The Worlds are :-

1.Great Pyramid of Giza,Egypt

The pyramid remained the tallest man-made structure in the world for over 3,800 years.its consists of an estimated 2.3 million limestone blocks with most believed to have been transported from nearby quarries.

2.Hanging Gardens of Babylon,Iraq

The gardens were attributed to the Neo-Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar II, who ruled between 605 and 562 BC. He is reported to have constructed the gardens to please his homesick wife Amytis of Media, who longed for the plants of her homeland.Estimates based on descriptions of the gardens in ancient sources say the Hanging Gardens would have required a minimum amount of 8,200 gallons (37,000 litres) of water per day.

3.Statue of Zeus at Olympia

The site consisted of a stadium - where the competitions were actually done - and a sacred grove, or Altis, where a number of temples were located. The shrine to Zeus here was simple in the early years, but as time went by and the games increased in importance, it became obvious that a new, larger temple, one worthy of the King of the gods.The temple was built on a raised, rectangular platform. Thirteen large columns supported the roof along the sides and six supported it on each end. A gently-peaked roof topped the building.

4.Temple of Artemis at Ephesus,Turkey

Also known less precisely as the Temple of Diana, was a Greek Temple dedicated to the goddess Artemis.One of the legends that grew up about the great fire was that the night that the temple burned was the very same night that Alexander the Great was born. According to the story, the goddess Artemis was so preoccupied with Alexander's safe birth she was unable to save her own temple from its fiery destruction.

5.Mausoleum at Halicarnassus

The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus or Tomb of Mausolus was a tomb  for Mausolus, a satrap in the Persian Empire, and Artemisia II Of Caria, who was both his wife and his sister.

6.Colossus of Rhodes

It was constructed to celebrate Rhodes' victory over the ruler of Cyprus.

7.Ligthouse of Alexandria

The Lighthouse of Alexandria, sometimes called the Pharos of Alexandria built for the purpose of guiding sailors into the port.With a height variously estimated at somewhere between 393 and 450 ft (120 and 140 m), it was one of the tallest man-made structures on Earth for many centuries.
